Totally agree! FYI, there is real information on government grants over at grants.gov. For the most part, though, the grants are not for everyone, and are targeted at specific uses, like farming, for example. Too many "free money" scams out there on the web.
This is a great page with some great resources, but people should be careful not to fall for other information on "free money" out on the internet that's just a scam.
I am totally sympathetic to your plight, but people need to realize that "free money" is a bit of a misnomer. There are some legitimate programs like SNAP (food stamps) and LIHEAP (money for heating), but for the most part, all the offers of free money for your bills out on the internet are just scams.
